Meet the person behind Simply Shi
Shi Lin is a Malaysian-Chinese chef based in New York City. She attended Food & Finance High School where she particpated in C-CAP’s cooking competition and won a scholarship to pursue her bachelors degree in Hospitality Management. Throughout her educational years, she interned at Union Square Cafe and Park Avenue Summer.
She began her career at the prestige one michelin star restaurant, Gramercy Tavern under Chef Michael Anthony and worked her way up from a prep cook onto the hot line from hot apps, entremet to grill. After the pandemic, she was scouted and joined Chambers to work with Chef Jonathan Harris as part of their opening team.
Shi Lin was selected to participate in the James Beard Fellow Program of 2022 under James Beard Foundation where she engaged in a 10-week resident at the Beard House, developed & sold 100+ meal kits across the U.S and cooked at the James Beard House.
Shi Lin started Simply Shi with a focus on Contemporary American and Asian cuisine, offering personal chef/private chef services in New York City; like in-home meal prep services, private dinners and small-scale catering.
